Rear head restraints
The rear head restraints in the BMW 5 Series G30 make an important contribution to the safety of rear passengers. This chapter explains how to adjust them optimally, remove them if necessary, or fold them for better visibility. Warnings and illustrations help to avoid incorrect operation and minimize the risk of injury.
Correctly adjusted head restraint
General
A correctly adjusted head restraint reduces the risk of cervical spine injuries in an accident.
Height
Adjust the head restraint so that its center is approximately at eye level.
Distance
Adjust the distance so that the head restraint rests as close as possible to the back of the head.
Safety notes
WARNING Head restraints that are removed or not correctly adjusted cannot provide protection and may cause injuries to the head and neck area. There is a risk of injury. Before driving with occupied seats, install the head restraints. Make sure that the center of the head restraint supports the back of the head at eye level. WARNING Body parts can be trapped when moving the head restraint. There is a risk of injury. When moving the head restraint, make sure the movement area is clear. WARNING Objects on the head restraint reduce its protective effect in the head and neck area.

The rear head restraints of the BMW 5 Series G30/G31 offer a high level of protection and comfort for rear passengers. They can be individually adjusted in height and angle, helping to reduce the risk of injury.
Practical features such as folding the center head restraint also provide better rearward visibility when the seat is unoccupied. This combines safety with everyday usability.
The BMW 5 Series G30/G31 sets new standards for rear seat comfort and occupant protection.
