Memory function. Massage function. Seat heating. Active seat ventilation

In the 7th generation BMW 5 Series, driver profiles can be saved using the memory function, including seat, mirror and steering wheel settings. This section also describes massage programs, front and rear seat heating, and active seat ventilation. All functions can be individually adjusted via iDrive for maximum comfort in every season.

Memory function

Principle

The memory function can save the following settings and recall them when required:

• Seat position.
• Exterior mirror position.
• Steering wheel position.
• Head-up Display height.

General

Two memory positions with different settings can be assigned to each driver profile.

The following settings are not saved:

• Backrest width.
• Lumbar support.

Safety notes

WARNING Using the memory function while driving may cause unexpected seat or steering wheel movements.

The vehicle may become uncontrollable.

Risk of accident. Only recall the memory function when the vehicle is stationary. WARNING There is a risk of pinching when the seats are moving.

Risk of injury or damage to property. Before adjusting, make sure the seat's range of movement is clear.

Overview

The memory buttons are located on the front doors.

Store

   Adjust to the desired position.

   Press the button. The lettering in the button lights up.

   Press the desired button 1 or 2 while the lettering is lit. A signal sounds.

Recalling

The saved position is recalled automatically.

Press the desired button 1 or 2.

The process is cancelled if a seat adjustment switch or one of the memory buttons is pressed again.

Adjusting the driver's seat position is interrupted after a short time while driving.

Massage function

Principle

Depending on the program, the massage function relaxes the muscles and improves blood circulation, and can help prevent signs of fatigue.

General

Eight different massage programs are available:

• Pelvis activation.
• Upper body activation.
• Full body activation.
• Back massage.
• Shoulder massage.
• Lumbar massage.
• Upper body training.
• Full body training.

Press the button once per intensity level.

Highest intensity level is shown by three illuminated LEDs.

Switching off

Press and hold the button until the LEDs go out.

Switching on

Press the button once per temperature level.

Highest level is shown by three bars on the climate display.

If driving is resumed within approx. 15 minutes after an intermediate stop, seat heating switches on automatically at the last set temperature.

If ECO PRO is activated, the heating output is reduced.

Switching off

Press and hold the button until the bar display on the climate display goes out.

Seat heating distribution

The heating effect on the seat cushion and backrest can be distributed differently.

Active seat ventilation

Principle

Integrated fans cool the seat cushion and backrest.

Ventilation serves to cool down, e.g. when the vehicle has heated up, or to provide continuous cooling at high temperatures.

Switching on

Press the button once per ventilation level.

Highest level is shown by three bars on the climate display.

After a short time, the level automatically steps down by one.

Switching off

Press and hold the button until the bar display on the climate display goes out.

Individual activation

Principle

Some heating and cooling functions can be activated automatically depending on the outside temperature.

General

Use iDrive to set the outside temperature at which the functions should be activated automatically.

Depending on equipment, the following functions can be activated automatically:

• Seat heating.
• Steering wheel heating.
• Seat ventilation.

Prerequisites for operation

• The seat belt of the corresponding seat is fastened.
• The outside temperature exceeds or falls below the set outside temperature for approx. 30 seconds.

Activating/deactivating

The memory function of the BMW 5 Series G30/G31 allows personal settings for the seat, mirrors and steering wheel to be saved and recalled conveniently. This provides a high level of comfort, especially when several drivers use the vehicle.

The massage function, seat heating and seat ventilation add to this comfort and help maintain well-being on long journeys. This equipment underlines the premium character of the BMW 5 Series G30/G31.
