Gear position indicator

R N 1–6

The engaged gear is shown on the display. In automatic mode the number is preceded by the letter D.

Shiftlock

Moving the selector lever out of position N with the vehicle stationary is only possible with the brake pedal depressed.

R: Reverse gear

Select this position only after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.

Sequential mode

After starting the engine, move the selector lever to the right while pressing the brake pedal to engage sequential mode.

Gears are selected using the steering wheel switches or the selector lever. Do not release the accelerator pedal.

Starting off in second gear is permitted (e.g., on ice).

D: automatic mode

In automatic mode all forward gears are shifted automatically.

To switch from sequential mode to automatic mode, push the selector lever to the right in the direction of D.

Kick-Down mode: for rapid acceleration (e.g., when overtaking), fully depress the accelerator pedal. This provides the fastest possible acceleration.

To return to sequential mode, push the lever to the right in the direction of D again, or change gear using the steering wheel switches or the selector lever.

When starting on an uphill grade, move off briskly. On a downhill grade, hold the vehicle with the parking brake, not the accelerator.

Otherwise the gearbox may overheat.◄
