Operating Principle
With the active cruise control system (adaptive cruise control), you can select a speed that the vehicle will maintain automatically while driving in a clear lane.
When a slower vehicle appears ahead, the system automatically adjusts your speed to match its pace. The set following distance can be varied. For safety reasons, the distance depends on vehicle speed. To maintain the distance, the system automatically releases the accelerator and, if necessary, applies the brakes, and then accelerates again as soon as the vehicle ahead speeds up. When the road ahead is clear, it accelerates the vehicle to the speed you set. This speed is also maintained when driving downhill.
To use the system confidently and knowingly, carefully read and strictly observe the instructions.
"Professional" Navigation System
If a DVD drive contains a road map disc, refer to page 126, the system adapts to the characteristics of the road.
This influence of the navigation system does not apply if the current vehicle location is unknown (for example, if the vehicle has left the area covered by the disc).
