MP3 File Playback Mode
The radio can play CD-R and CD-RW discs containing MP3 music files.
Creating an MP3 Compact DiscDue to the many combinations of CD recorders, CD burning software, and blank discs available, the radio may not read some discs. If discs you have recorded do not read well in the radio's drive, try discs from a different manufacturer or discs with a different recording surface color.
When recording a compact disc, use ISO 9660 Level 1 / Level 2 or Joliet format. Problems may occur when playing discs recorded in other formats.
A compact disc may contain up to 252 folders. The radio allows the user to access each folder on the disc.
Regardless of the number of folders on the compact disc, the radio can play up to 999 files per disc, or up to 255 files per folder. When recording a compact disc on a personal computer, you can assign a name to each folder.
The radio can display folder names. Assign names to folders and tracks/files using CD burning software. For details, refer to the software instructions.
• Do not use diacritical marks or special characters in folder, track, or file names. To make sure files play in the correct order, use CD burning software with alphabetical sorting. If the software you use does not support this function, sort the files manually. To do this, add a number ("001", "002", etc.) at the beginning of each name, including leading zeros.
MP3 files may contain additional information, such as artist name, album title, and song title (ID3 tags). The radio can display ID3 Tag version 1 information. When creating MP3 files from standard audio files (compression), do not use a bit rate higher than 256 kbps.
The radio can play only files with the MP3 extension.
To ensure continuous playback:
• Do not manually change other file extensions to MP3 and try to play them on the radio. The unit will ignore such files during playback.
• Do not use compact discs that contain both MP3 files and data in other formats (in MP3 mode, the unit can play only MP3 files).
• Do not use compact discs that contain both MP3 files and standard CD audio tracks. When such a disc is played, the radio will play only the last ones.
