Owner's Manual Citroën C5 II

Hill start assist

~1min read

The system holds your vehicle briefly (about 2 seconds) when starting on a slope, while you move your foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator pedal.

This function is only active when:

  • the vehicle has been brought to a complete stop with your foot on the brake pedal,
  • under certain slope conditions,
  • the driver's door is closed.

The hill start assist function cannot be deactivated.

Operation

Aide au démarrage en pente

On an uphill slope, vehicle stationary, the vehicle is held briefly as soon as you release the brake pedal:

  • if you are in first gear or in neutral with a manual gearbox,
  • if you are in D or M with an automatic gearbox.

! Do not get out of the vehicle while the hill start assist temporary hold phase is active.

If you have to leave the vehicle with the engine running, apply the parking brake manually and check that the parking brake warning lamp (in the instrument panel) is on steadily.

Aide au démarrage en pente

On a downhill slope, vehicle stationary and reverse engaged, the vehicle is held briefly as soon as you release the brake pedal.
