Automatic transmission

Automatic gearbox
Automatic gearbox offering, as desired, the comfort of fully automatic shifting, enhanced by SPORT and SNOW modes, or manual gear selection.
Four driving modes are therefore available:
- automatic operation, where the gearbox manages gear changes electronically,
- SPORT mode for a more dynamic driving style,
- SNOW mode to improve driving on poor grip,
- manual operation, where the driver selects gears sequentially.
Selecting the mode

Selecting the mode
- automatic mode: selector in position D,
- sequential mode: selector in position M,
- SPORT mode: selector in position D with the A button pressed,
- SNOW mode: selector in position D with the B button pressed.
Instrument cluster displays

Instrument panel displays
The selector position and driving mode are shown on the dial C of the instrument cluster.
A position gate associated with the selector also shows the selected position.
! For safety:
- position P can only be released if the brake pedal is pressed,
- when a door is opened, a warning sound is heard if the selector is not in position P,
- always make sure the selector is in position P before leaving your vehicle.
If the gearbox is in position P and the selector is in a different position, move the selector to P before you can start the engine.
Starting the vehicle
- To start the engine, the selector must be in position P or N.
- Operate the starter.
- With the engine running, as required, move the selector to R, D or M.
- Check the engaged position on the instrument cluster.
- Release the brake pedal and accelerate.
- To avoid any mismatch between the selector position and the actual gearbox position, always leave position P with the ignition on and your foot on the brake.
Otherwise, with the ignition on or the engine running:
- move the selector back to position P,
- put your foot on the brake, then select the desired gear.
Parking
This selector position is used to prevent the vehicle from moving when stationary.
- To select position P, move the selector to the top position (towards R), then push it forward, then to the left.
- To leave position P, move the selector to the right to the desired position.
- Engage it only when the vehicle is completely stopped.
In this position, the front wheels are locked. Make sure the selector is correctly positioned.
Reverse gear
Only engage it when the vehicle is stationary.
To avoid a jolt, do not accelerate suddenly after selecting a gear.
Neutral
Never select position N while the vehicle is moving.
! Never select position P or R if the vehicle is not stopped.
If position N is engaged by mistake while driving, let the engine slow down before engaging position D or M.
Automatic operation

Automatic operation
- Move the selector to position D .
The transmission constantly selects the most suitable gear ratio based on the following parameters:
- driving style,
- road profile,
- vehicle load.
The transmission operates without any input from you.
For certain maneuvers (overtaking, for example), maximum acceleration can be obtained by pressing the accelerator pedal fully to go past the mechanical resistance point (kickdown), which may cause the transmission to automatically downshift to a lower gear.
When braking, the transmission may downshift automatically to provide effective engine braking.
When you suddenly release the accelerator pedal, the transmission will not upshift.
Manual operation

Manual operation
Selector position for manual gear changes.
- Move the selector to position M.
- Push the selector toward the "+" sign to upshift.
- Pull the selector toward the "-" sign to downshift.
- When the vehicle is stopped or at low speed (approaching a stop sign, for example), the transmission automatically downshifts to 1st gear.
- In sequential mode, it is not necessary to release the accelerator pedal during gear changes.
- Gear change requests are accepted only if the engine speed allows it.
- SPORT and SNOW modes are not available in sequential mode.
SPORT and SNOW modes

SPORT and SNOW modes
These two specific programs supplement automatic operation in very particular driving conditions.
SPORT mode "S"

- With the selector in D and the engine running, press button A .
The transmission automatically favors a dynamic driving style.
S appears on the instrument cluster.
SNOW mode "
»
- With the selector in D and the engine running, press button B .
The transmission adapts to driving on slippery roads.
This program makes starting off and traction easier when grip conditions are poor.
appears in the instrument cluster.
Returning to automatic operation
- At any time, press the selected button again to exit the active program and return to adaptive automatic mode.
! A strong jolt may be felt when selecting R for reverse.
If a malfunction occurs, the transmission is locked in one gear. Do not exceed a speed of 100 km/h.
Do not switch off the engine if the gear selector is in position D or R .
Never press the brake and accelerator pedals at the same time.
Braking or accelerating must be done only with the right foot. Pressing both pedals at the same time may damage the transmission.
