Stop & Start
Stop & Start temporarily puts the engine on standby - STOP mode - when the vehicle stops in traffic (red lights, congestion, etc.). The engine restarts automatically - START mode - as soon as you want to move off. Restarting is instant, quick and quiet.
Ideally suited to urban driving, Stop & Start reduces fuel consumption, pollutant emissions and noise levels when stationary.
Operation
Switching to engine STOP mode
The “ECO” indicator lamp comes on in the instrument panel and the engine switches to standby:
- with a 6-speed manual automated gearbox, at a speed below 6 km/h, press the brake pedal or move the gear lever to position N.
If your vehicle is equipped with it, a timer accumulates the time spent in STOP mode during the journey. It resets each time the ignition is switched on with the key.
! Never refuel while the engine is in STOP mode; always switch off the ignition with the key.
Special cases: STOP mode unavailable
STOP mode does not activate when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is unfastened,
- the vehicle speed has not exceeded 10 km/h since the last start with the key,
- the electric parking brake is applied or being applied,
- maintaining cabin thermal comfort requires it,
- demisting is activated,
- certain temporary conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, brake assistance, outside temperature...) require it in order to ensure system control.
In this case, the "ECO" indicator flashes for a few seconds, then goes out.
This operation is completely normal.
Switching to START mode
The “ECO” indicator lamp goes off and the engine restarts:
- gear lever in position A or M, release the brake pedal,
- or gear lever in position N and brake pedal released, move the gear lever to position A or M,
- or engage reverse.
Special cases: automatic START mode activation
START mode activates automatically when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is unfastened,
- the vehicle speed exceeds 11 km/h with a 6-speed manual automated gearbox,
- the electric parking brake is being applied,
- certain temporary conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, brake assistance, air conditioning settings...) require it in order to ensure control of the system or vehicle.
In this case, the "ECO" indicator flashes for a few seconds, then goes out.
This operation is completely normal.

Deactivation
At any time, press the «ECO OFF» button to deactivate the system.
This is indicated by the button indicator light coming on, together with a message on the screen.
If the system was deactivated while in STOP mode, the engine restarts immediately.Reactivation
Press the «ECO OFF» button again.
The system is active again; this is indicated by the button indicator light going out.
The system reactivates automatically each time the vehicle is started with the key.
Malfunction

Malfunction
If the system malfunctions, the «ECO OFF» button indicator flashes, then stays on steadily.
Have it checked by the CITROËN network.
If a fault occurs in STOP mode, the vehicle may stall.
In that case, switch the ignition off, then restart with the key.
Maintenance
! Before carrying out any work under the bonnet, deactivate Stop & Start to avoid any risk of injury caused by automatic START mode activation.
This system requires a battery with specific technology and characteristics (references available from the CITROËN network).
Fitting a battery not referenced by CITROËN may cause the system to malfunction.

! Stop & Start uses advanced technology.
Any work requires specific qualification, which the CITROËN network guarantees.
