FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The table below lists answers to the most frequently asked questions about the NaviDrive 3D.

QUESTION

ANSWER

SOLUTION
There is a difference in sound quality between the different audio sources (radio, CD, etc.). To ensure optimum listening quality, the audio settings (Volume, Bass, Treble, Ambience, Loudness) can be adjusted for each audio source, which may cause audible differences when changing source (radio, CD, etc.). Check that the audio settings (Volume, Bass, Treble, Ambience, Loudness) are suitable for the source being played. It is recommended to set the AUDIO functions (Bass, Treble, Front/rear balance, Left/right balance) to the middle position, select sound ambience «None», set loudness correction to «On» in CD mode and to «Off» in radio mode.
The CD is always ejected or is not played by the player. The CD is inserted upside down, is unreadable, contains no audio data, or contains an audio format that the car radio cannot read.

The CD is protected by a copy protection system that is not recognized by the car radio.

  • Check the direction in which the CD is inserted into the player.
  • Check the condition of the CD: it cannot be played if it is too damaged.
  • Check the content if it is a burned CD: see the advice in the «Audio» chapter.
  • The car radio CD player does not play DVDs.
  • Due to insufficient quality, some burned CDs will not be played by the audio system.
The sound from the CD player is distorted. The CD being used is scratched or of poor quality. Insert good-quality CDs and store them in good conditions.
The car radio settings (bass, treble, ambience) are unsuitable. Set the treble or bass level back to 0, without selecting any ambience.
QUESTION ANSWER SOLUTION
The stored stations do not work (no sound, 87.5 MHz is displayed, etc.). The selected waveband is not the correct one. Press RADIO, select the «Radio» menu, then «AM/FM band» to find the waveband where the stations are stored.
The reception quality of the station being listened to gradually deteriorates, or the stored stations do not work (no sound, 87.5 MHz is displayed, etc.). The vehicle is too far from the transmitter of the station being listened to, or no transmitter is present in the geographic area being travelled through. Activate the «RDS» function via the shortcut menu, so that the system can check whether a more powerful transmitter is present in the geographic area.
The environment (hill, building, tunnel, underground car park, etc.) blocks reception, including in RDS tracking mode. This phenomenon is normal and does not indicate a fault with the car radio.
The antenna is missing or has been damaged (for example, after going through a car wash or in an underground car park). Have the antenna checked by the CITROËN network.
Sound cuts out for 1 to 2 seconds in radio mode. During this brief sound interruption, the RDS system searches for a possible frequency that provides better reception of the station. Deactivate the "RDS" function using the shortcut menu if the phenomenon is too frequent and always occurs on the same route.
Engine off, the system switches off after several minutes of use. When the engine is off, the operating time of the system depends on the battery charge.

Switching off is normal: the system switches to energy-saving mode and turns off to preserve the vehicle battery.

Start the vehicle engine to increase the battery charge.
QUESTION ANSWER SOLUTION
The "Traffic information (TA)" box is ticked. However, some traffic jams on the route are not shown in real time. On startup, the system takes a few minutes to receive traffic information. Wait until traffic information has been properly received (traffic information icons displayed on the map).
In some countries, only major roads (motorways...) are listed for traffic information. This phenomenon is normal. The system depends on the traffic information available.
Route calculation sometimes seems to take longer than usual. System performance may temporarily slow down if a CD/DVD is being copied to the Jukebox at the same time as a route is being calculated. Wait until the CD/DVD copy has finished, or stop the copy before starting route guidance.
I receive a speed camera alert for a camera that is not on my route. The system announces all speed cameras located within a cone in front of the vehicle. It may detect cameras on nearby or parallel roads. Zoom in on the map to view

the exact position of the camera.

The speed camera audio alert does not work. The audio alert is not active. Activate the audio alert in Menu "Navigation", Settings, Set risk zones.
The alert volume is set to minimum. Increase the alert volume when passing a speed camera.
Does the emergency call work without a SIM card? No, because some national regulations require a SIM card to be present in order to make an emergency call. Insert a valid SIM card into the slot.
Altitude is not displayed. On startup, GPS initialisation may take up to 3 minutes to correctly acquire more than 4 satellites. Wait for the system to start up completely. Check that GPS coverage is at least 4 satellites (press and hold the SETUP key, then select "GPS coverage").
Depending on the geographical environment (tunnel...) or the weather, GPS signal reception conditions may vary. This phenomenon is normal. The system depends on GPS signal reception conditions.
QUESTION ANSWER SOLUTION
Route calculation does not complete. The exclusion criteria may conflict with the current location (exclusion of toll roads on a toll motorway). Check the exclusion criteria in Menu "Navigation" ("Guidance options" - "Exclusion criteria").
The waiting time after inserting a CD is long. When a new medium is inserted, the system reads a certain amount of data (folder, title, artist, etc.). This may take a few seconds. This phenomenon is normal.
I cannot connect my Bluetooth phone. The phone's Bluetooth may be switched off or the device may not be visible.
  • Check that the Bluetooth on your phone is switched on.
  • Check that your phone is visible.
The Bluetooth phone is not compatible with the system. A list of compatible Bluetooth mobile phones is available from the CITROËN network.
The sound from the phone connected via Bluetooth is inaudible. The sound depends on both the system and the phone. Increase the MyWay volume, up to maximum if necessary, and increase the phone volume if needed.
The system does not play the DVD. The region protection may not be compatible. Insert DVDs with compatible region protection.
I cannot copy the CD to the Jukebox. The selected source is not the correct one. Change the active source to select the CD source.
The CD is copy-protected. It is normal that a copy-protected CD cannot be copied.
QUESTION ANSWER SOLUTION
The system does not receive SMS messages. Bluetooth mode does not allow SMS messages to be transferred to the system. Use your SIM card and the internal phone.
The SIM card used is a twin card. Use the original SIM card to receive SMS messages.
I cannot update the risk zone POIs. The Menu "Navigation" - "Import my points of interest" does not appear. Check that the media used for the update (SD card or USB key) is correctly inserted.
An error message appears at the end of the procedure.
  • Repeat the entire procedure.
  • Consult the CITROËN network if the fault persists.
  • Check that the data on the MEDIA is supplied by an official CITROËN partner.
The DTMF tones are not active when I am on a call and enter numbers on the keypad. The numeric keys on the keypad are only active during a call when the display is in phone mode. To activate them, press the MODE key until the phone display appears on screen.
An accident-prone zone that does not concern me is displayed on screen. Accident-prone zones are displayed near a point defined in the map data and linked to a direction of travel. The alert may be triggered when driving under a road or near a road with a speed camera.
