The engine starting lockout device is activated automatically after driving more than 1100 km following confirmation of an SCR exhaust treatment system fault. Have the system checked as soon as possible at a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.

If a fault is detected

The UREA, SERVICE and engine diagnostic warning lights come on, accompanied by an audible signal and the message "Exhaust treatment fault".

The warning is triggered while driving when the fault is detected for the first time, then when the ignition is switched on during subsequent journeys, for as long as the cause of the fault persists.

If the fault is temporary, the warning disappears during the next journey, after the exhaust treatment system SCR self-diagnosis check.

During the permitted driving phase (between 1100 km and 0 km)


If the SCR system fault is confirmed (after driving 50 km with the fault warning continuously displayed), the SERVICE and engine diagnostic warning lights come on and the UREA warning light flashes, accompanied by an audible signal and the message (e.g.

"Exhaust treatment fault: Starting prohibited in 300 km") showing the remaining driving range in kilometres or miles.

While driving, the message is displayed every 30 seconds for as long as the SCR exhaust treatment system fault persists.

The warning is repeated each time the ignition is switched on.

Contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop as soon as possible.

Otherwise, you will not be able to restart the vehicle.

Starting prohibited

Each time the ignition is switched on, the SERVICE and engine diagnostic warning lights come on and the UREA warning light flashes, accompanied by an audible signal and the message "Exhaust treatment fault: Starting prohibited".

The permitted mileage limit has been exceeded: the starting lockout device prevents the engine from restarting.

To restart the engine, be sure to contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualified workshop.
