Things You Should Know About Uconnect Phone

Voice Command

For best performance:

• Always wait for the beep before speaking.
• Speak normally, without pauses, as if speaking to a person seated a few feet/meters away from you.
• Make sure no one other than you speaks during the voice command period.
• Fan Adjustment from Low to Medium
• Low and Medium Vehicle Speeds
• Low Road Noise
• Smooth Road Surface
• Fully Closed Windows
• Dry Weather Conditions

Although the system is designed for many languages and accents, it may not always work for some users.

NOTE:

It is recommended not to save names to the Favorites phonebook while the vehicle is in motion.

Recognition of numbers and names is optimized when entries are not similar. You can say "O" (the letter "O") instead of "0" (zero).

Although international dialing is supported for most number combinations, some speed dial number combinations may not be supported.

Audio Performance

Audio quality is best when:

• Fan Adjustment from Low to Medium
• Low and Medium Vehicle Speeds
• Low Road Noise
• Smooth Road Surface
• Fully Closed Windows
• Dry Weather Conditions
• Driver's Seat Operation

Characteristics such as sound clarity, echo, and volume depend largely on the mobile phone and network, not on Uconnect Phone.

Far-end echo can sometimes be reduced by lowering the vehicle audio volume.

Phone Voice Commands

Making and answering hands-free phone calls is easy with Uconnect. When the phonebook button on the touchscreen is highlighted, your system is ready. Visit UconnectPhone.com for mobile phone compatibility and pairing instructions.

Press the Phone buttonand wait for the beep to say the command. See some examples below:

• "Call John Smith"
• "Dial 123 456 7890"
• "Redial" (calls the previous outgoing phone number)
• "Call back" (calls the previously answered incoming phone number)

Did you know: When giving a voice command, press the Phone buttonand say "Call," then say the name exactly as it appears in your phonebook. When a contact has multiple phone numbers, you can say "Call John Smith work."

Voice Text Reply — If Equipped

Uconnect can announce incoming text messages. Press the VR buttonor the phone buttonand say:

1. 1
   "Listen" to have the system read the incoming text message. (Must have a compatible mobile phone paired with the Uconnect system.)
2. 2
   "Reply" after hearing the incoming text message. Listen to the Uconnect prompts. After the beep, repeat one of the predefined messages and follow the system prompts.

   

NOTE:

Use only the numbering shown in the provided table. Otherwise, the system will not transpose the message.

Apple® iPhone® iOS 6 or later supports reading incoming text messages only. For more information on how to enable this feature on your Apple® iPhone®, refer to the User Guide for your iPhone®.

Did you know: Voice text reply is not compatible with iPhone®, but if your vehicle is equipped with Siri® Eyes Free, you can use your voice to send a text message.

Siri® Eyes Free — If Equipped

When used with an Apple® iPhone® connected to your vehicle via Bluetooth®, Siri allows you to use your voice to send text messages, select media, make phone calls, and more. Siri uses natural language to understand what you mean and responds to confirm your requests. The system is designed to keep your eyes on the road and your hands on the steering wheel, allowing Siri to help you perform useful tasks.

To activate Siri, press and hold, then release the Uconnect Voice Recognition (VR) button on the steering wheel. After you hear two beeps, you can ask Siri to play podcasts and music, get directions, read text messages, and more.

Bluetooth® Communication Link

Mobile phones may lose their connection to the Uconnect phone. When this occurs, the connection can usually be restored by restarting the mobile phone. It is recommended that the mobile phone remain in Bluetooth® ON mode.

Amplifier

After switching the ignition key from the OFF position to the ON/RUN or ACC position, or after changing the language, you must wait at least 15 seconds before using the system.
