Starting and driving

Procedure for petrol versions

~1min read

Proceed as follows:

  • Apply the parking brake;
  • Place the gear lever in neutral;
  • Fully depress the clutch pedal, without pressing the accelerator pedal;
  • Turn the key to AVV and release it as soon as the engine starts.

If the engine does not start at the first attempt, turn the key back to STOP before repeating the procedure.

If, with the key at MAR, the warning lighton the instrument panel
(or the symbol on the display) together with the warning lightremains on
, it is advisable to turn the key back to STOP and then to MAR again. If the warning light stays on, try again with the other supplied keys.

During
the first period of use, it is advisable not to demand maximum performance from the vehicle (e.g. extremely rapid acceleration, long journeys at maximum engine speed, very heavy braking, etc.).Note

It is dangerous to run the engine in enclosed spaces. The engine consumes oxygen and emits carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and other toxic gases.

With
the engine off, do not leave the key at MAR, to avoid unnecessary battery drain.

If the engine still does not start, carry out the emergency starting procedure (see "Emergency start" in the chapter "In an emergency") and contact the Fiat service network.

Note: with the engine off, do not leave the key at MAR.
