HD Radio™ Information (if equipped)
To activate HD Radio, see Radio Settings in the Settings section.
HD Radio technology is a digital evolution of analog AM/FM radio. Your system has a special receiver that allows it to receive digital broadcasts (where available) in addition to the analog broadcasts it already receives. Digital broadcasts provide better sound quality than analog broadcasts, with free, crystal-clear sound and no static or distortion. When HD Radio is turned on and you tune to a station broadcasting in HD Radio technology, you may see the following indicators on your screen:

The HD logo is displayed in gray when acquiring a digital station, then turns orange when digital audio is playing. When this logo is available, you may also see the song title and artist fields on the screen.
The multicast indicator appears in FM mode only, if the current station broadcasts multiple digital channels. The displayed numbers indicate the digital channels where new or different content is available. HD1 means the main program and is available in both analog and digital broadcasts. Other multicast stations (HD2 through HD7) are available in digital only.
When HD Radio broadcasts are active, you can access the following features:
