Steering

Electric power steering

The vehicle has an electric power steering system. It does not have power steering fluid. No regular maintenance is required.

If the power steering assist is lost due to a system malfunction, the vehicle can still be steered, but increased steering effort may be required.

If the power steering is used for a long period of time while the vehicle is not moving, the electric power steering assist may be reduced.

If the steering wheel is turned to its end of travel and held against that position for a long period of time, the power steering assist may be reduced.

With normal use, power steering assist should return when the system cools down.

See your dealer if there is a problem.

  • Take curves at a reasonable speed.
  • Reduce speed before entering a curve.
  • Maintain a reasonable, steady speed through a curve.
  • Wait until the vehicle has exited the curve before accelerating gently on the straightaway.

Emergency Steering

  • There are situations where steering around a problem may be more effective than braking.
  • Holding the steering wheel on both sides allows you to turn 180 degrees without removing your hands.
  • The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) allows you to steer while braking.
