Steering Wheel Play Inspection, Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Level Inspection
STEERING WHEEL PLAY INSPECTION
1. Measure the free play (play) of the steering wheel at the rim.
Maximum allowable steering wheel free play: 30 mm 2. Inspection: check for play in the steering linkage joints.
a) Check that there is no excessive play in the tie rod end joints.
b) Check that the tie rod boots and tie rod end ball joint boots are not damaged.
c) Check that the boot clamps are not loose.
POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR LEVEL INSPECTION
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface. Start the engine. With the vehicle stationary, turn the steering wheel fully left and right several times in succession until the fluid temperature rises to approximately 50-60 °C.

2. With the engine idling, turn the steering wheel fully to the right and left several times. Check that the fluid is not cloudy or foamy, and check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir. If necessary, add power steering fluid to the reservoir through the reservoir filter.

POWER STEERING HOSE INSPECTION
1. Check for fluid leaks at the hose connections.
2. Replace power steering hoses if cracks, bulges, abrasion or stepped wear (at the clamp location) are found on their surface. Deterioration of the hoses can cause premature failure.
BALL JOINT AND STEERING LINKAGE SEALS, STEERING AND DRIVE SHAFT BOOTS
1. Periodic lubrication of these components is not required, as they are filled with grease at the factory for their service life. Replace damaged seals and boots to prevent grease leakage or contamination.
2. Check the boots and dust covers for grease leakage, contamination and damage. Replace them if defective.
