Malfunction of the Function

When the Lane Keeping Assist system is not operating properly, the "Check Lane Keeping Assist System" (LKA) warning message will appear and the yellow
indicator light will illuminate on the instrument cluster. If this occurs, we recommend that the system be inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Limitations of the Function
The Lane Keeping Assist system may not operate normally or may activate unexpectedly under the following circumstances:
- The lane is contaminated or difficult to distinguish because
-- Lane markings (or road edges) are covered with rain, snow, dirt, oil, etc.
-- The color of the lane markings (or road edges) is not distinguishable from the road
-- There are road markings (or road shoulders) next to the lane, or road markings (or road edges) resemble lane markings (or road edges)
-- Lane markings (or road edges) are unclear or damaged
-- Shadows are on the lane markings (or road edges) from median strips, trees, guardrails, noise barriers, etc. - There are more than two lane markings (or road edges) on the road.
- The lane number increases or decreases, or lane markings (or road edges) intersect.
- The lane markings (or road edges) are complex or structural substitutes for lines, such as construction areas.
- There are road markings such as zigzag lines, crosswalk markings and road signs.
- The lane suddenly disappears, such as at an intersection.
- The lane (or road width) is very wide or narrow.
- There is a boundary structure on the roadway, such as a toll gate, sidewalk, curb, etc.
- The distance to the vehicle ahead is very short, or the vehicle ahead blocks the lane markings.
For more detailed information on forward view camera limitations, refer to "Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)" in chapter 7.
WARNING
Observe the following precautions when using the Lane Keeping Assist system:
- The driver must remain responsible for safe driving and controlling the vehicle. Do not rely solely on the system and drive dangerously.
- Lane Keeping Assist operation may be cancelled or may not operate properly depending on road conditions and surroundings. Always be careful while driving.
- Refer to "System Limitations" if the lane is not detected properly.
- When towing a trailer or other vehicle, we recommend that the Lane Keeping Assist system be turned off for safety reasons.
- If the vehicle is traveling at high speed, steering will not be controlled. The driver must always observe the speed limit when using the system.
- If another system's warning is displayed or sounded, the Lane Keeping Assist warning message may not be displayed and the warning sound may not be generated.
- You may not hear the Lane Keeping Assist warning sound if there is excessive noise outside the vehicle.
- If you attach objects to the steering wheel, steering may not be properly supported.
- Lane Keeping Assist may not operate for 15 seconds after the vehicle is started or the front view camera is initialized.
- Lane Keeping Assist does not operate when:
-- The turn signal or hazard warning flasher is on
-- The vehicle is not driving near the center of the lane when the system is turned on or immediately after changing lanes
-- ESC (Electronic Stability Control) or VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) is activated
-- The vehicle is driving on a sharp curve
-- Vehicle speed is below 35 mph (55 km/h) or above 210 km/h
-- The vehicle makes a sudden lane change
-- The vehicle brakes suddenly
