Operation of the Function
Main Function
Warning and Control Function
The primary function of Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist is to help avoid or reduce the severity of a frontal collision. It warns the driver and controls the vehicle depending on the collision risk level: "Collision Warning," "Emergency Braking," and "Stop Vehicle and Brake Control Release."

- To warn the driver of a collision, the "Collision Warning" warning message will appear on the instrument cluster and a warning sound will sound.
- If a vehicle is detected ahead, the system will operate when your vehicle speed is approximately 6 to 180 km/h.
- If a pedestrian or cyclist is detected ahead, the system will operate when your vehicle speed is between approximately 6 and 53 mph (10 to 85 km/h).
- If "Active Assist" is selected, braking assistance may be provided.

Emergency Braking
- To alert the driver of an emergency situation, braking will be strengthened. The "Emergency Braking" message will appear on the instrument cluster and an audible warning will sound.
- If a vehicle is detected ahead, the system will operate when your vehicle speed is approximately 6 to 75 km/h.
- If a pedestrian or cyclist is detected ahead, the system will operate when your vehicle speed is between approximately 6 and 40 mph (10 to 65 km/h).
- In an emergency braking situation, the system will assist braking power to help prevent a collision with a vehicle, pedestrian, or cyclist ahead.
Vehicle Stop and Brake Control Release

- When the vehicle is stopped by emergency braking, the "Drive" warning message will appear in the cluster. For your safety, the driver must immediately depress the brake pedal and check the surroundings.
- Brake control will be released after the vehicle has been stopped by emergency braking for approximately 2 seconds.
Junction Turning Function
Warning and Control Function
The Junction Turning function helps avoid or reduce the severity of a collision.

- The function will operate when your vehicle speed is between approximately 6 and 30 km/h and the speed of the oncoming vehicle is approximately 19 to 44 mph (30 to 70 km/h).
- If "Active Assist" is selected, braking assistance may be provided.

Emergency Braking
- To alert the driver of an emergency situation, braking will be strengthened. The "Emergency Braking" message will appear on the instrument cluster and an audible warning will sound.
- The system will operate when your vehicle speed is between approximately 6 and 30 km/h and the speed of the oncoming vehicle is approximately 19 to 44 mph (30 to 70 km/h).
- In an emergency braking situation, the system will assist braking power to help prevent a collision with an oncoming vehicle.
Information
If the driver's seat is on the left side, the Junction Turning function will only operate when the driver turns left. If the driver's seat is on the right side, the function will only operate when turning right.

WARNING
Observe the following precautions when using Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist:
- For safety, change the settings after parking the vehicle in a safe location.
- When "Active Assist" or "Warning Only" is selected, if ESC is turned off by pressing and holding the ESC OFF button for more than 3 seconds, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist will turn off automatically. In this case, the function cannot be set from the Settings menu and the warning light illuminates on the instrument cluster; this is normal. If ESC is turned on by pressing the ESC OFF button, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist will keep the last setting.
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist does not operate in all situations or may not avoid all collisions.
- The driver must remain responsible for vehicle control. Do not rely solely on Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist. Instead, maintain a safe braking distance and press the brake pedal as needed to reduce speed or stop the vehicle.
- Never intentionally use Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist to collide with people, animals, objects, etc. This may result in serious injury or death.
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not operate if the driver presses the brake pedal to avoid a collision.
- Depending on the road and driving conditions, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist system may warn the driver late or may not warn the driver.
- During Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist operation, the vehicle may stop suddenly, which may injure passengers and move unsecured objects. Always fasten your seat belt and keep cargo secured.
- If a warning message or audible warning for another function is displayed or sounding, the Forward Collision Warning message may not be displayed and the audible warning may not sound.
- You may not hear the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist warning sound if there is a lot of noise around you.
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may turn off, or may not operate properly, or may operate differently depending on road and surrounding conditions.
WARNING
- Even if there is a problem with Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, the basic braking performance of the vehicle will operate normally.
- During emergency braking, the braking control function is automatically canceled when the driver excessively depresses the accelerator pedal or sharply steers the vehicle.
CAUTION
- The Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist operating speed range may be reduced depending on the conditions of the vehicle or pedestrian ahead or the surroundings. Depending on the speed, the system may only warn the driver or may not operate.
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist will operate under certain conditions by evaluating the risk level based on the condition of the vehicle ahead, direction of travel, speed, and surroundings.
Information
In a situation where a collision is unavoidable, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist may not provide enough braking assistance for the driver.
