Inspection - Cylinder Head, Valves
1. Inspect the cylinder head for cracks, damage, and signs of coolant leakage.
If cracks are found, replace the cylinder head.

2. Thoroughly clean the cylinder head of scale, carbon deposits, and remnants of old sealant and gasket.
After cleaning the oil passages, blow them out with compressed air to make sure they are not clogged.
3. Inspect the cylinder head gasket surface for flatness in the directions shown in the illustration. If the flatness exceeds the limit in any direction, either replace the cylinder head or lightly grind the cylinder head gasket surface.
Cylinder head gasket surface flatness:
Standard value: less than 0.03 mm Limit: 0.06 mm
VALVES

1. Using a wire brush, thoroughly clean the valve.

2. Inspect each valve for wear, damage, and deformation of the face and stem area "B". Replace the valve if necessary.
If the valve stem end "A" has dents or significant wear, resurface the valve stem end as necessary.
Remove the minimum amount of material when machining the valve stem end. Also, refinish the valve seat contact face.
Replace the valve if the valve head thickness is less than the service limit.
Valve Head Thickness [Standard] Intake valve: 1.15 mm Exhaust valve: 1.35 mm [Limit] Intake valve: 0.80 mm Exhaust valve: 1.00 mm
