Vehicle Service Operations - Generator Belt Adjustment

If the belt tension is too low, slipping noise and rapid belt wear will occur.

If the belt tension is too high, the bearings of the water pump or generator may be damaged.

1. Loosen nut "A" of the generator pivot bolt and lock bolt "B" of the generator adjusting bracket.

2. Turn the adjusting bolt to adjust the belt tension and deflection to the nominal values.

3. Tighten lock bolt "B" of the generator adjusting bracket.

4. Tighten nut "A" of the generator pivot bolt.

5. Check the belt tension or deflection and readjust if necessary.

Tightening Torque:

Generator pivot bolt and nut:

20 - 25 N·m Generator adjusting bracket lock bolt:

12 - 15 N·m Generator adjusting bracket mounting bolt:

20 - 27 N·m
