Inspection - Valve Springs, Valve Guides
VALVE SPRINGS 1. Measure the free length of each valve spring. If the spring free length is less than the service limit, replace the valve spring.
2. Using a square, check the spring tilt (out-of-squareness) of each valve spring relative to the perpendicular to the seat surface. If the out-of-squareness is greater than the service limit, replace the valve spring.

VALVE GUIDES
Measure the clearance between the valve guide and the valve stem (at several points along the length). If the clearance is greater than the service limit, replace the valve guide.
