Power Steering Pump Drive Belt Tension Inspection

1. Press the power steering pump drive V-belt with a force of 98 N at the point shown in the illustration, and check that the belt deflection is within the standard value.
Belt deflection (standard value): 6 - 9 mm

2. If the belt deflection does not meet the standard value, adjust the belt tension as follows:
a) Loosen the belt tension adjusting bolt on the power steering pump.

b) Position a lever against the power steering pump and, moving the pump, adjust the belt deflection to the standard value.
c) Tighten the belt tension adjusting bolt on the power steering pump.
d) Check the belt deflection and repeat the adjustment procedure if necessary.
