Steering Gear - Inspection

1. Rack

1. Check the steering rack teeth for wear or damage.

2. Check the contact surface for the oil seal installation for excessive wear or damage.

3. Check the steering rack for straightness (no bending or twisting).

4. Check the O-ring for excessive wear or damage.

5. Check the oil seal for excessive wear or damage.

2. Drive Pinion and Valve

1. Check the drive pinion teeth for wear or damage.

2. Check the contact surface for the oil seal installation for excessive wear or damage.

3. Check the O-ring for excessive wear or damage.

4. Check the oil seal for excessive wear or damage.

3. Bearing

1. Check that the bearings rotate smoothly and make no abnormal noise.

2. Check that the bearings have no excessive play.

3. Check that no needles have fallen out of the needle bearing.

4. Other Components 1. Check the inner surface of the steering gear housing cylinder for damage.

2. Check the boots for wear, cracks and tears.
