Power Steering Pump Pressure Test

1. Disconnect the pressure hose from the power steering pump. Connect the special tools between the pressure hose and the power steering pump, as shown in the illustration.

2. Bleed the air from the power steering system. Then start the engine and, with the vehicle stationary, turn the steering wheel several times until the fluid temperature reaches approximately 50°C.

3. Set the engine speed to 1000 rpm.

4. Fully close the shut-off valve on the pressure gauge, measure the pump discharge pressure, and check that it is within the specified value.

Pump Discharge Pressure (Specification):

8300 – 8800 kPa

Do not keep the shut-off valve on the pressure gauge closed for more than 10 seconds.

5. Disconnect the special tools, connect the pressure hose, and tighten the hose fasteners to the specified torque.

Tightening Torque: 55 – 65 N·m

6. Bleed the air from the power steering system.
