Removal

  1. Raise the vehicle and make sure it is securely supported.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel.

    Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

  3. Remove the rear disc brake. (Refer to Brake System - "Rear Disc Brake")
  4. Remove the wheel speed sensor (A) by loosening the mounting bolt.

    Tightening torque: 6.9 ~ 10.8 N·m

  5. Remove the parking brake cable (B).
    1. After removing the bolt (A).

      Tightening torque: 6.9 ~ 10.8 N·m

    2. Remove the clip (A) and lift the cable guide spring (B).
    3. Remove the parking brake cable by pressing it in the direction of the arrow.
  6. Remove the shock absorber mounting bolt.

    Tightening torque: 137.3 ~ 157 N·m (14.0 ~ 16.0 kgf·m, 101.3 ~ 115.7 lbf·ft)

  7. Make alignment marks (C) on the rubber coupling (A) and the rear differential companion flange (B), then remove the propeller shaft mounting bolts (D).
    1. When reinstalling the propeller shaft bolts after removal, each bolt and washer must be returned to its original position and the bolt insertion direction must be the same as before. Therefore, make marks to avoid mixing up the bolts and washers before removing the propeller shaft.
    2. If the propeller shaft bolts and washers are installed in the wrong position or direction, it may cause vibration and noise at high vehicle speed due to propeller shaft imbalance.
    3. If abnormal vibration and noise occur at high vehicle speed after replacing the propeller shaft with a new one, balance the propeller shaft with a balancing machine.
  8. Remove the rear crossmember. (Refer to Suspension System - "Rear Suspension System")
  9. Disconnect the EPB connector.
  10. Separate the parking cable by loosening the bracket bolt.

    Tightening torque: 8.8 ~ 13.7 N·m

  11. Remove the EPB module.

    Tightening torque: 8.8 ~ 13.7 N·m

Installation

  1. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  2. Adjust the rear brake pad clearance.
    1. Remove the plug from the disc.
    2. Turn the adjuster gear with a screwdriver until the disc does not move, then turn it back 6 notches in the opposite direction.
