Description

The steering angle sensor detects the rotation direction of the steering wheel. The rotation direction detected by the sensor is sent to the HECU as a CAN signal via CAN communication. The HECU determines the steering wheel rotation speed and angle with this CAN signal. The HECU also uses this signal as an input signal for the yaw stability control.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait at least 30 seconds.
  2. Turn the steering wheel so that the front wheels are aligned in a straight line.
  3. Remove the DAB module. (Refer to Restraints - Airbag Module)
  4. Disconnect the connector and the lock bolt (A), then remove the steering wheel using the special service tool (09561-11001).

    Tightening torque: 39.2 ~ 49 N·m

Tighten the lock bolt appropriately and install the SST (09561-1101) to easily remove the steering wheel.
Do not strike the steering wheel to remove it; this may damage the steering column. Do not reuse the steering lock bolt when installing.
  5. Remove the steering column shroud. (Refer to Body - Steering Column Shroud Panel)
  6. Remove the clockspring.
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
