Removal

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts slightly. Raise the vehicle and make sure it is securely supported.
  2. Remove the front wheel and tire (A) from the front hub.

    Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

Be careful not to damage the hub bolts when removing the front wheel and tire.
  3. Remove the wheel speed sensor by loosening the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt (A) and the wheel speed sensor mounting bolt (B). [4WD]

    Tightening torque: 6.9 ~ 10.8 N·m

  4. Loosen the wheel speed sensor bracket bolt and disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector (A). [2WD]

    Tightening torque: 6.9 ~ 10.8 N·m

  5. Remove the lower covers (A) and (B).
  6. Remove the tie rod end ball joint from the steering knuckle.
    1. Remove the cotter pin.
    2. Remove the castellated nut.
    3. Disconnect the ball joint (A) from the steering knuckle (B) using special service tool (09568-2J100).

      Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

Apply a few drops of oil to the special service tool. (Loading contact part)
  7. Remove the tension arm (A) from the steering knuckle using SST (09568-2J100). [2WD]
    1. Remove the cotter pin (B).
    2. Remove the castellated nut (C).
    3. Disconnect the ball joint from the steering knuckle using the special service tool (09568-2J100).

      Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

  8. Loosen the nut and remove the compression arm using SST (09568-2J100). [4WD]

    Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

  9. Loosen the nut and remove the side arm using SST (09568-2J100).

    Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

    [2WD]
    [4WD]
  10. Remove the steering universal joint bolt (A) to disconnect the universal joint assembly from the steering gear box.

    Tightening torque: 32.4 ~ 37 N·m

    • Keep the steering wheel in the neutral position. Moving the steering wheel may damage the cable inside the clock spring.
    • Tighten the steering column bolts in the same direction as they were removed.
    • Do not reuse the steering universal joint bolt during installation.
  11. Remove the clip.
  12. Disconnect the connector. [4WD]
  13. Loosen the mounting bolt (A). [Both sides]
  14. Disconnect the EPS connector (A) and remove the steering gear.

    Tightening torque: 88.3 ~ 108 N·m

    [4WD]
    [2WD]
Be careful not to damage the ECU when removing the steering gear.
  15. Using the engine support fixture (SST No.: 09200-38001, 09200-2S100, 09200-2S200), securely support the engine assembly.
  16. Remove the engine mount bracket from both sides. [Lambda]

    Tightening torque: 156.9 ~ 176 N·m N·m (16.0 ~ 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 ~ 130.2 ft-lbf)

    [TAU]

    Tightening torque: 63.7 ~ 83 N·m

    [LH]
    [RH]
  17. Remove the brake disc cooling duct. [Both sides] [2WD]
  18. Loosen the subframe mounting bolts. [Both sides] [2WD]
  19. Loosen the subframe mounting bolts and remove the subframe. [4WD]

    Tightening torque: 156.9 ~ 176 N·m N·m (16.0 ~ 18.0 kgf·m, 115.7 ~ 130.2 ft-lbf)

For safety, a jack must be used.
    [2WD]

    Tightening torque: 137.3 - 157 N·m N·m (14.0 - 16.0 kgf·m, 101.3 - 115.7 ft-lbf)

For safety, a jack must be used.
  20. Remove the tension/compression arm from the subframe. (Refer to Front Suspension System - "Front Lower Arm").
  21. Remove the side arm from the subframe. (Refer to Front Suspension System - "Front Lower Arm").
  22. Remove the front stabilizer bar from the subframe. (Refer to Front Suspension System - "Front Stabilizer Bar")
  23. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  24. Check alignment. (Refer to Tires/Wheels – Wheel Alignment)
