Owner Maintenance

~3min read

The following lists show the checks and inspections to be carried out on the vehicle at the indicated intervals in order to ensure safe and reliable operation of your vehicle.

Abnormal conditions should be reported to your dealer as soon as possible.

These owner maintenance checks are generally covered by the warranty, but labor, parts and lubricants used may be charged.

Owner Maintenance Schedule

When stopping for refueling:

- Check the engine oil level.

- Check the coolant level in the reservoir.

- Check the windshield washer fluid level.

- Check whether the tires are underinflated.

WARNING Be careful when checking the coolant level when the engine is hot. Boiling coolant and steam may be sprayed out under pressure, causing burns or other serious injuries.

While driving the vehicle:

- Notice any changes in exhaust noise or odors from the exhaust gases.

- Check for steering vibration.

Detect increased effort or lightness in the steering, or a change in straight-ahead position.

- Check whether the vehicle drifts slightly or pulls to one side when driving on flat or level roads.

- When stopping, listen for unusual noises, check whether the vehicle pulls to one side, and check for longer brake pedal travel or a harder pedal.

- If the transmission slips or operates differently, check the clutch fluid level.

- Check the operation of the automatic transmission (Park) position.

- Check the parking brake.

- Check for fluid leaks under the vehicle (water dripping from the air conditioner during or after use is normal).

At least once a month:

- Check the coolant level in the dedicated reservoir.

- Check the operation of the exterior lights, including the brake lights, turn signals and hazard warning lights (four-way flashers).

- Check the inflation pressure of all tires, including the spare tire.

At least twice a year (for example, once in summer and once in spring):

- Check the radiator and air conditioning hoses for leaks or damage.

- Check the operation of the wipers and washers. Clean the wiper blades with a clean cloth dampened with windshield washer fluid.

- Check the headlight alignment.

- Check the muffler, exhaust pipes, bumpers and clamps.

- Check the seat belts for wear and proper operation.

- Check the tires for wear and whether the wheel nuts are loose.

At least once a year:

- Check the door and body drain holes.

- Lubricate the door hinges and checkers, and the hood hinges.

- Lubricate the door and hood latches and locks.

- Lubricate the rubber door weatherstrips.

- Check the air conditioning system.
