Recommended Braking Techniques

~1min read
WARNING When leaving or parking the vehicle, always come to a complete stop and keep the brake pedal depressed. Shift the transaxle into 1st gear (manual transaxle) or P (Park, automatic transaxle), firmly apply the parking brake, and turn the ignition switch to LOCK/OFF. If the parking brake is not fully applied, the vehicle may move unintentionally and cause injury.

WET BRAKES ARE DANGEROUS! Brakes may get wet when driving through standing water or when the vehicle is washed. The vehicle will not stop as quickly when the brakes are wet.

With wet brakes, the vehicle may pull to one side.

To dry them, lightly press the brake pedal until braking action returns to normal, while keeping the vehicle under control at all times. If braking action does not return to normal, stop as soon as safely possible and contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.

DO NOT drive with your foot resting on the brake pedal. Even light but constant pressure on the pedal can cause overheating, wear, and possible brake failure.

If a tire goes flat while driving, lightly apply the brakes and keep the vehicle straight while slowing down. When the vehicle has slowed sufficiently, leave the road and stop in a safe place.

To prevent this, keep your foot firmly on the brake pedal when the vehicle is stopped.
