~2min read

With manual transmission

To start the engine, depress the clutch pedal and brake pedal, then press the engine start / stop button with the shift lever in N (Neutral).

With automatic transmission

To start the engine, depress the brake pedal, then press the engine start / stop button with the shift lever in N (Neutral) or P (Park). For safety reasons, start the engine with the shift lever in P (Park).

NOTE

If the engine start / stop button is pressed without depressing the clutch pedal (manual transmission) or the brake pedal (automatic transmission), the engine will not start and the engine start / stop button will switch as follows:

WARNING - Never press the engine start / stop button while the vehicle is moving, except in an emergency. This causes the engine to shut off and the power to the brakes and steering wheel to be lost. This would result in loss of steering control and brake power assist, with a risk of accident. - Before leaving the driver's seat, always make sure the shift lever is in P (Park); then fully apply the parking brake and press the engine start / stop button to OFF, and always take the smart key with you. If these precautions are not observed, the vehicle could unexpectedly move. - Never reach for the engine start / stop button or other controls by passing your hand between the spokes of the steering wheel while the vehicle is moving. The presence of a hand or arm in this area may cause loss of vehicle control, an accident, and serious injury or death.
