Underbody Maintenance
Corrosive materials used for de-icing and road dust can accumulate on the underbody. If these materials are not removed, rust formation increases on underbody parts such as fuel lines, chassis, floor, and exhaust system, even if they have been treated against rust.
Thoroughly clean the underbody and wheel housings with warm or cold water once a month, after driving on unpaved roads, and at the end of winter. Pay special attention to these areas because mud and dirt are difficult to detect. Simply soaking mud without rinsing it off is more harmful. The drain holes in the bottom of the doors and body/chassis components must not become clogged with dirt; water entering these areas may cause rust.
WARNING
After washing the vehicle, check the brakes by driving slowly to see whether they are wet. If braking efficiency is reduced, dry the brakes by lightly pressing the brake pedal while maintaining reduced speed.
