Hood
Hood Opening

1. Park the vehicle and set the parking brake.
2. Pull the hood release lever to unlock the hood. The hood should pop up slightly.

3. Go to the front of the vehicle, lift the hood slightly, press the secondary latch (1) located in the center of the hood, and lift the hood (2).
4. Pull out the support rod.

5. Hold the hood open with the prop rod (1).
WARNING
- Grasp the prop rod by the rubber-coated area. The rubber will help protect your hand from burns from hot metal when the engine is hot.
- The prop rod must be fully inserted into the holder provided whenever you inspect the engine compartment. This will prevent the hood from falling and possibly injuring you.
Hood Closing
1. Before closing the hood, check the following:
- All engine compartment filler caps must be installed correctly.
- Gloves, rags, or any other flammable materials must be removed from the engine compartment.
2. Return the support rod to its clip to prevent it from rattling.
3. Lower the hood halfway (approximately 30 cm / 12 in. above the fully closed position) and press down to securely latch it in place. Then double-check that the hood is secure.
If the hood can be lifted slightly, it is not securely latched. Open it again and close it with more force.
WARNING
- Before closing the hood, make sure all obstacles are removed from the hood opening area.
- Always double-check that the hood is securely latched before driving. Check that the hood open indicator lamp or message is not displayed on the instrument cluster. If the hood is not latched while the vehicle is moving, a chime will sound to warn the driver that the hood is not fully latched. Driving with the hood open may cause a complete loss of visibility, which may lead to an accident.
- Do not drive the vehicle with the hood in the raised position, as visibility is obstructed, which may lead to an accident, and the hood may fall or be damaged.
