Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) System

The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) System assists the driver while driving by an audible warning when an object is detected within 100 cm (39 in.) in front of and 120 cm (47 in.) behind the vehicle.
This system is an optional system that detects objects within the range and location of the sensors. It cannot detect objects in areas where sensors are not installed.
WARNING
- ALWAYS inspect your vehicle to make sure there are no objects or obstacles in front of or behind the vehicle before moving in any direction to prevent a collision.
- Always pay close attention when the vehicle is approaching objects, especially pedestrians, and especially children.
- Be aware that some objects may not be shown on the display or detected by the sensors due to object distance, size, or material, any of which may limit sensor effectiveness.
Operating the Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) System
Operating Condition

- This system is activated when the Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system button is pressed with the engine running.
- The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system is automatically activated when the shift lever is moved to the R (Reverse) position. However, if the vehicle speed exceeds 6 mph (10 km/h), the system will not warn even if objects are detected, and if the vehicle speed exceeds 20 km/h, the system will automatically turn off. To activate the system, press the Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system button.
- When more than two objects are detected at the same time, the nearest one will be recognized first.
Types of Warning Sound and Indicator

NOTICE
- The indicator may differ from the illustration depending on objects or sensor conditions. If the indicator flashes, we recommend having the system checked at an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If the audible warning does not sound, or sounds intermittently when shifting to the R (Reverse) position, this may indicate a malfunction in the Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system. If this occurs, we recommend having your vehicle checked at an authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as possible.
Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) System Operating Limitations
The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system may not operate normally when:
- Moisture has frozen on the sensor.
- The sensor is covered with foreign matter, such as snow or water, or the sensor cover is blocked.
The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system may malfunction when:
- Driving on uneven road surfaces such as dirt roads, gravel, bumps, or slopes.
- Objects creating excessive noise, such as vehicle horns, loud motorcycle engines, or truck air brakes, may interfere with the sensor.
- Heavy rain or water spray is present.
- Wireless transmitters or mobile phones are located near the sensor.
- The sensor is covered with snow.
- Any non-factory equipment or accessories have been installed, or the vehicle bumper height or sensor installation has been changed.
The detection range may decrease if:
- The outside air temperature is very hot or cold.
- Objects smaller than 1 m in height and 14 cm in diameter cannot be detected.
The following objects may not be detected by the sensor:
- Sharp or thin objects, such as ropes, chains, or small poles.
- Objects that tend to absorb the sensor frequency, such as clothing, porous materials, or snow.
WARNING
The new vehicle warranty does not cover accidents or damage to the vehicle or injuries to its occupants related to the Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system. Always drive safely and carefully.
- The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system may not sound consistently depending on the speed and shape of the detected objects.
- The Parking Distance Warning (Reverse/Forward) system may malfunction if the vehicle bumper height or sensor installation has been changed or damaged. Any non-factory installed equipment or accessories may also interfere with sensor performance.
- The sensor may not detect objects within 30 cm (11 in.) from the sensor, or it may indicate an incorrect distance. Be careful.
- When the sensor is frozen or covered with snow, mud, or water, the sensor may not operate until the contamination is removed with a soft cloth.
- Do not press, scratch, or strike the sensor. Damage to the sensor may occur.
- Do not spray high-pressure water directly onto the sensors or the area around them with a high-pressure car wash. Water pressure may cause the system to not operate normally.
