Remote Key Precautions

~1min read

The remote key will not operate if any of the following occurs:

  • The key is in the ignition switch.
  • You are exceeding the operating distance limit (approximately 30 m [90 ft]).
  • The remote key battery is discharged.
  • Other vehicles or objects may be blocking the signal.
  • The weather is very cold.
  • The remote key is near a radio transmitter, such as a radio station or airport, which may interfere with normal remote key operation.

If the remote key does not work properly, lock and unlock the door with the mechanical key. If you have a problem with the remote key, it is recommended that you contact an authorized HYUNDAI service center.

If the remote key is in close proximity to your mobile phone, the signal may be blocked by your mobile phone, preventing normal operation.

This is especially likely when the phone is in use, such as making and receiving calls, text messaging, and/or sending/receiving e-mails. Avoid placing the remote key and your mobile phone in the same place, and always try to maintain an adequate distance between the two devices.
