Warning Message

Hyundai Ioniq. Sensor to Detect Distance to the Vehicle Ahead

Smart Cruise Control Disabled. Radar Blocked

When the sensor lens cover is blocked by dirt, snow or debris, Smart Cruise Control operation may be temporarily suspended. In this case, a warning message will appear on the LCD display. Remove the dirt, snow or debris and clean the radar sensor lens cover before using Smart Cruise Control. The Smart Cruise Control system may not operate properly if the radar is heavily contaminated, or if an obstruction is not detected after the vehicle enters the ready (Hyundai Ioniq. Sensor to Detect Distance to the Vehicle Ahead) mode (for example, in open terrain).

CAUTION

  • Do not attach a license plate frame or foreign objects, such as a bumper sticker or bumper guard, near the radar sensor. This may adversely affect the radar sensor performance.
  • Always keep the radar sensor and lens cover clean and free of dirt and debris.
  • Use only a soft cloth when washing the vehicle. Do not spray water under high pressure directly at the sensor or sensor cover.
  • Be careful not to apply unnecessary force to the radar sensor or the sensor cover. If the sensor is forced out of its proper position, the Smart Cruise Control system may malfunction. In this case, a warning message may not appear. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • If the front bumper is damaged in the area of the radar sensor, the Smart Cruise Control system may not operate properly. Have the vehicle inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
  • Use only genuine HYUNDAI parts to repair or replace a damaged sensor or sensor cover. Do not paint the sensor cover.
