Emergency Stop Signal (ESS)

~1min read

The Emergency Stop Signal system warns the driver behind by flashing the brake lights when braking suddenly and forcefully.

The system is activated when:

  • The vehicle decelerates suddenly. (Braking force exceeds 7 m/s² and vehicle speed exceeds 55 km/h.)
  • ABS is activated and vehicle speed exceeds 55 km/h.

The hazard warning lights automatically turn on after the brake lights flash:

  • When the vehicle speed is below 40 km/h,
  • When the ABS is turned off and
  • When the sudden braking situation has ended.

The hazard warning lights turn off:

• When the vehicle travels at low speed for a certain period of time.

The driver can manually turn off the hazard warning lights by pressing the button.

Information

The Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) system will not operate when hazard warning lights are already on.
