Tire Replacement

~2min read

If a tire is worn evenly, the tread wear indicator will appear as a solid band across the tread. This indicates that less than 1.6 mm (1/16 inch) of tread remains on the tire. In this case, replace the tire.

Do not wait until the band appears across the entire tread before replacing the tire.

WARNING

To reduce the risk of DEATH or SERIOUS INJURY:

  • Replace worn, unevenly worn, or damaged tires. Worn tires may reduce braking efficiency, steering control, and road grip.
  • Always replace tires with tires of the same size as those originally supplied with this vehicle. Using tires and wheels other than the recommended sizes may result in unusual handling characteristics, poor vehicle control, or adversely affect your vehicle's anti-lock braking system (ABS), resulting in a serious accident.
  • When replacing tires (or wheels), it is recommended to replace two front or two rear tires (or wheels) as a pair. Replacing only one tire may seriously affect vehicle handling. If only one pair of tires is replaced, it is recommended to install the new pair on the rear axle.
  • Tires age over time, even if they are not used. Regardless of tread depth, HYUNDAI recommends replacing tires after six (6) years of normal service.
  • Heat caused by hot climates or frequent heavy loads may accelerate the aging process. Failure to observe this warning may result in sudden tire failure, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.

Compact Spare Tire Replacement

The compact spare tire has a shorter service life than a standard-size tire. Replace it when you see the tread wear indicator bands on the tire. A replacement compact spare tire must be the same size and design as the one supplied with your new vehicle and must be installed on the same compact spare wheel. The compact spare wheel is not intended to be fitted to a standard-size wheel, and the compact spare wheel is not intended to accept a standard-size tire.

WARNING

The original tire should be repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid failure of the spare tire and loss of vehicle control, which may result in an accident. The compact spare tire is intended for temporary emergency use only. Do not drive the vehicle at speeds above 80 km/h when using the compact spare tire.
