Recommended Cold Tire Pressure
Check the pressure of all tires (including the spare) when the tires are cold. "Cold tires" means the vehicle has not been driven for at least three hours or has been driven less than 1.6 km (1 mile).
Warm tire pressure is typically 28–41 kPa (4 to 6 psi) higher than the recommended cold tire pressure. Do not release air from warm tires to adjust the pressure, or the tires will be underinflated. For recommended tire pressures, refer to "Tires and Wheels" in Chapter 8.
WARNING
The recommended tire pressure must be maintained for best ride, vehicle handling, and minimum tire wear.
Excessive or insufficient tire pressure may shorten tire life, adversely affect vehicle handling, and cause sudden tire failure, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident.
Severe underinflation may cause excessive heat build-up, resulting in tread separation and other tire failures, which may result in loss of vehicle control and an accident. This risk is much higher on hot days and during long periods of high-speed driving.
CAUTION
- Underinflation causes excessive wear, poor handling, and reduced fuel economy. It may also damage the wheel. Keep tire pressure at the proper level. If a tire frequently needs air, HYUNDAI recommends having it inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- Overinflation causes a harsh ride, excessive wear in the center of the tire tread, and increases the likelihood of damage from road hazards.
