Filter Replacement

The air cleaner filter can be cleaned or inspected using compressed air. Do not try to wash or rinse it, as water will damage the filter. If it is contaminated, the air cleaner filter must be replaced.

1. Lift the air cleaner filter cover (1).

2. Pull the lever down to the UNLOCK (2) position.

3. Replace the air filter element.

4. Install the air cleaner cover in the reverse order of removal.

Information

If the vehicle is operated in extremely dusty or sandy areas, replace the element more often than the recommended intervals (see "Severe Duty Maintenance" in this chapter).

NOTICE

  • Do not drive with the air cleaner filter removed. This will cause excessive engine wear.
  • When removing the air cleaner filter, be careful that dust or dirt does not enter the air intake, otherwise damage to the engine may result.
  • Use genuine HYUNDAI parts or the equivalent specified for your vehicle. Use of non-genuine parts may damage the mass air flow sensor.
