~1min read
Follow the normal maintenance schedule if the vehicle is operated under any of the following conditions. If any of the following conditions apply, you must follow the Severe Duty Maintenance schedule.
- Repeated short-distance trips of less than 5 miles (8 km) in normal conditions, or less than 10 miles (16 km) when outside temperature is freezing
- Extended engine idling or low-speed driving over long distances
- Driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, gravel, or salt-treated roads
- Driving in areas using salt or other corrosive materials, or in very cold weather
- Driving in severely dusty conditions
- Driving in heavy stop-and-go traffic
- Repeated driving uphill, downhill, or on mountainous roads
- Towing a trailer or camper, or driving with a load on the roof
- Driving as a police vehicle, taxi, or other commercial use, or towing vehicles
- Frequent driving at high speed or rapid acceleration/deceleration
- Frequent driving in stop-and-go conditions
- Use of engine oil that is not recommended (mineral, semi-synthetic, lower specification class, etc.)
If your vehicle is operated under any of the above conditions, have it inspected, replaced, or refilled more frequently than shown in the normal maintenance schedule. After the periods or distances shown in the schedule, continue to follow the prescribed maintenance intervals.
NOTICE
After 10 years or 100,000 miles, we recommend performing the severe maintenance schedule.
Information
- Engine oil consumption during driving is normal. Engine oil level should be checked on a regular basis.
- The engine oil change interval for normal operating conditions is based on use of the recommended engine oil specification. If the recommended engine oil specification is not used, change the engine oil according to the severe operating conditions schedule.
