Information
If there is heavy accumulation of snow or ice on the windshield, defrost the windshield for approximately 10 minutes or until the snow and/or ice is removed before operating the wipers to ensure proper operation.
Operating the wipers and washer before removing snow and/or ice may damage the wiper and washer system.

The rain sensor located on the upper end of the windshield detects the amount of precipitation and controls the wiping cycle at the appropriate interval. The wiper operating time will be automatically controlled depending on the amount of precipitation.
When the rain stops, the wipers stop. To change the sensitivity setting, turn the sensitivity control knob.
If the wiper switch is set to the AUTO position when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the wipers will operate once to perform a system self-check. Set the wiper switch to the OFF position when the wipers are not in use.
WARNING
To avoid injury from the wipers when the engine is running and the wiper switch is in the AUTO position:
- Do not touch the upper edge of the windshield near the rain sensor.
- Do not wipe the upper end of the windshield with a damp or wet cloth.
- Do not apply pressure to the windshield.
NOTICE
- When washing the vehicle, set the wiper switch to the OFF position to stop the automatic wiper operation. The wipers may operate and be damaged if the switch is set to the AUTO position during vehicle washing.
- Do not remove the sensor cover located on the upper end of the passenger side windshield. Damage to system components may occur and may not be covered by your vehicle warranty.
- Due to the use of a photo sensor, a temporary malfunction may occur depending on sudden changes in ambient light, or obstruction by stones and dust during driving.
