Set Primary Vehicle

You can manage multiple Digital Keys from the Digital Key app. From the list of Digital Keys you own, select the vehicle you want to set as your primary vehicle.

NFC Door Lock/Unlock

[1]: Door Handle Authentication Pad

Touch the NFC antenna of your smartphone (rear side of the phone) to the authentication panel (1) marked near the lock button on the driver's (or front passenger's) door handle for 2 seconds to lock or unlock the doors. If the Two-Touch Unlock function (touch twice to unlock) is applied, the driver's door will be unlocked by touching the Digital Key (smartphone key). In this state, if you touch again within 4 seconds, all doors will unlock. Make sure the doors are locked. If you do not open any door after unlocking, the doors will automatically relock after 30 seconds.

Note that you cannot lock your vehicle when you touch the NFC antenna of your smartphone to the door handle trim panel in any of the following cases:

  • The Smart Key is inside the vehicle.
  • The ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ACC or ON position.
  • Any door, the hood, or the trunk is open.

If the smartphone Digital Key does not work, move the smartphone farther than 4 inches (0.1 m) from the door handle authentication panel and try again.

After unlocking the door or starting the vehicle with the Digital Key, even if the driver attempts to lock the doors using the central lock switch, the door lock will be locked once and immediately unlocked when the door is closed.

Starting with the Digital Key

1. After placing the registered smartphone on the inside authentication pad (wireless charger), depress the brake pedal and press the Engine Start/Stop button.

2. After starting, the Digital Key data will be updated automatically. This takes 5 to 20 seconds, after which the smartphone will automatically switch to wireless charging mode. After the engine starts, you may remove the smartphone from the pad.

Information

After reconnecting the vehicle battery power source or charging the battery, operation may take some time due to remote update of security information. When locking or unlocking the door with NFC, touch and hold your smartphone to the door handle until it operates.

This function allows offline operation when the smartphone mobile data connection is weak. When you are in a place where the smartphone mobile data connection is available and place your smartphone on the inside authentication pad (wireless charger) and start the vehicle, or touch the Digital Key to the door handle to lock or unlock the door, the remote security information update starts automatically. Even though the engine is running, wait until the remote update process is complete and the wireless charger switches to charging mode.

CAUTION

The engine can be started by placing a registered smartphone or key card on the inside authentication panel (wireless charger). Do not leave children or people unfamiliar with the system unattended, as this may result in serious injury or death. Always keep the registered Digital Key (smartphone) or key card with you to prevent vehicle theft when leaving the vehicle.

Remote Control with Digital Key

To use the remote control function with an Android smartphone, Bluetooth must be turned on.

Digital Key Remote Control Connection

1. Open the Hyundai Digital Key app on your smartphone. Select your vehicle to activate the remote control function as the primary vehicle.

2. Approach your vehicle with the app activated on your smartphone and check whether the connection is available. If it allows your smartphone to connect, connect to your vehicle by pressing the connect button. The remote control function is activated after the process is completed.

Digital Key Remote Control

You can perform remote control operations, including door lock/unlock, panic on/off, remote start/remote stop, and trunk opening. The icon for each function will be highlighted, and an audible signal/vibration will be given when the operation is performed.

Note that you cannot lock your vehicle with the Hyundai Digital Key app if any of the following occurs:

  • The ENGINE START/STOP button is in the ACC or ON position.
  • Any door is open.

When the smartphone and vehicle are connected via Bluetooth but a remote control command cannot be received for more than 5 minutes, the remote control connection is automatically disconnected.

CAUTION

  • If the vehicle has metallic window tint, it may cause a poor Bluetooth connection or reduced Digital Key performance.
  • If several users use the remote control function at the same time, the connection between the Digital Key and the vehicle may cause commands to fail. Please connect and use the remote control function only when necessary.
  • When using the remote control operation, the user (remote control user) must leave the vehicle after confirming the door lock (one beep sounds and the hazard lights flash).
  • Remote functions of the Digital Key app allow the vehicle to be controlled from a set distance. If the Digital Key or vehicle moves outside the operating range, the remote control function may be disabled or canceled.
  • If the Digital Key (smartphone) is connected to the vehicle for remote control, the function may not work if the key holder moves far away from the vehicle.
  • If remote operation is performed when the mobile signal is weak, the Bluetooth connection is poor due to multiple Bluetooth devices, or an object such as metal or concrete is present, the operation may be delayed or the operable distance may be reduced. Do not cover the smartphone with your hand or place other devices that may cause radio interference. This may result in poor performance.
  • If the remote function is not available, use the NFC function to lock or unlock the doors.

Remote Start Using the Digital Key

  • When the shift lever is in P (Park), all doors, including the trunk and hood, are locked, and the vehicle is off, press the Lock button in the Hyundai Digital Key app, then press the Remote Start button within 4 seconds. You can confirm that the engine is running if the hazard warning lights flash twice and the horn sounds once.
  • To turn off the engine, press Remote Engine Stop. The air conditioner / heating system remains in the same state as when the vehicle was last used.
  • If you do not place the registered digital key (smartphone) in the interior authentication panel (wireless charger) while the remote start function is active, the engine will turn off.
  • If you do not get into the vehicle within 10 minutes after the engine starts, the vehicle will turn off automatically.

Vehicle Information Display

The Digital Key app displays vehicle information, such as driving or door status, through communication with the vehicle.

  • How to check: Select the vehicle you want to check and tap the vehicle image. The vehicle information display page will appear.
  • Contents: accumulated odometer, last fuel economy, driving range, remaining fuel, tire pressure, door lock/unlock status, and last data update time.

* The displayed vehicle status may differ from the actual current condition of the vehicle.

  • If you purchase a used vehicle, you must confirm the message and delete the registered smartphone key and key card. In this case, you must have the smart key with you.
  • If you keep the digital key NFC card placed in the interior authentication panel (wireless charger) while driving, the NFC card may malfunction.
  • You must remove the digital key NFC card from the interior authentication panel after the engine is started.
  • The Hyundai Digital Key app may not operate properly when NFC or Bluetooth communication between the smartphone and the vehicle is poor.
  • If remote operation is performed when the mobile signal is weak, the Bluetooth connection is poor due to a large number of Bluetooth devices, or an object such as metal or concrete is present, the operation may be delayed or the operable distance may be reduced. In particular, do not cover the smartphone with your hand or place other devices that may cause radio interference. This may result in poor performance.
  • If the remote function is not activated, use the NFC function to lock or unlock the doors.
  • Be careful not to press the remote control buttons on the digital key (smartphone) accidentally.
