Vehicle Weight
This section explains how to load the vehicle correctly and distribute the weight within the vehicle's capacity. Correct loading ensures the best performance and use of the vehicle.
Before loading the vehicle, review the instructions supplied with the vehicle and the certification label, which contain the weight distribution limits for the vehicle.
Curb Weight of the Base Vehicle
This is the weight of the vehicle with a full fuel tank and all standard equipment. It does not include passengers, cargo, or optional equipment.
Curb Weight of the Fully Equipped Vehicle
The weight of a new vehicle as delivered, including all aftermarket equipment.
Payload
The weight of everything added to the curb weight of the base vehicle, including cargo and optional equipment.
Gross Axle Weight (GAW)
The total load on each axle (front and rear), including the curb weight of the fully equipped vehicle and all payload.
Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR)
The maximum permissible load that can be applied to one axle (front or rear). These values are shown on the certification label.
The gross axle weight must never exceed the Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR).
Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) Curb weight of the base vehicle plus the actual weight of cargo and passengers.
Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR)
The maximum permissible weight of the fully loaded vehicle (including all equipment, options, passengers, and cargo).
The GVWR is shown on the certification label located on the driver's door B-pillar (or front passenger door).

WARNING
- Vehicle Weight
The Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR) and Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) are shown on the certification label attached to the driver's door (front passenger door).
Exceeding these ratings may result in an accident or damage to the vehicle. You can calculate the weight of cargo by weighing items (and passengers) before they are placed in the vehicle. Take care not to overload the vehicle.
