Towing a Trailer
Towing with the vehicle must be carried out in accordance with the traffic regulations of the particular country.
Since the laws of different countries differ, the requirements for towing trailers, vehicles and other vehicles or self-propelled equipment may also differ.
Before towing, contact an authorized HYUNDAI dealer for additional information.
WARNING
- Towing a Trailer
If you do not use the proper equipment or do not operate the vehicle correctly when towing a trailer, there is a risk of loss of control. For example, if the trailer is too heavy, the braking system may work insufficiently effectively, or not work at all. You and your passengers could receive serious or fatal injuries. Begin towing a trailer only after completing all the steps described in this section.
WARNING
- Weight Limitations
Before towing, make sure that the gross trailer weight, the gross combination weight, the gross vehicle weight, the gross axle weight and the trailer tongue load comply with the established limits.
NOTE
- For European Countries
• The maximum permissible rear axle load may be exceeded by no more than 15 %, and the maximum permissible gross vehicle weight with load by no more than 10 % or 100 kg (220.4 lb), whichever is less. With such a load, the vehicle speed must not exceed 100 km/h for M1 category vehicles and 80 km/h for N1 category vehicles.
• When an M1 category vehicle tows a trailer, the additional load may cause the maximum permissible value to be exceeded, but by no more than 15 %. In this case, the vehicle speed must not exceed 100 km/h, and the tire pressure must be increased by at least 0.2 bar.
Your vehicle is capable of towing a trailer. The trailer weight your vehicle can tow can be determined from the information in the "Trailer Weight" item later in this section.
Keep in mind that towing differs in nature from driving a single vehicle. Handling, wear and fuel consumption change. Successful and safe towing requires appropriate equipment that must be used correctly.
This section contains many time-tested important tips as well as safety rules. Many of these rules are important for the safety of you and your passengers.
Read this section carefully before towing.
Powertrain components such as the engine, transmission, wheel assemblies and tires are subjected to greater stress due to the added weight. The engine must operate at somewhat higher speeds and under increased loads.
This additional load results in increased heat generation.
In addition, the trailer significantly increases aerodynamic drag, which raises the traction power requirements.

NOTE
- Location of the Trailer Towing Attachment Points
The towing attachment mounting points are located on both sides of the body behind the rear wheels.
