WARNING
- Hold the hood support rod by the rubber-covered area when the engine is hot to protect yourself from burns or injury.
- Make sure the end of the hood support rod is fully inserted into the hood slot so the hood does not fall.
Hood Closing
1. Before closing the hood, check around the engine compartment and make sure the following:
- All tools or other loose items have been removed.
- All gloves, rags, or other flammable materials have been removed.
- All filler caps are closed tightly and properly installed.
2. Return the hood support rod to its stored position.
3. Lower the hood to approximately 12 inches (30 cm) above the closed position, then let it drop.
4. Make sure the hood is properly latched. If the hood is slightly raised, open it again and let it drop from a little higher. Check again.
WARNING
- Before closing the hood, make sure all obstacles are cleared from around the hood opening.
- Always double-check that the hood is securely latched before driving. Check that the hood open warning light or message does not appear on the instrument cluster. Driving with the hood open may cause a complete loss of visibility, resulting in a collision.
- Do not drive the vehicle with the hood open. It may block your view and may cause a collision.
