Liftgate

~1min read

Opening the Liftgate

Make sure the vehicle is in P (Park) and apply the parking brake.

- Unlock all doors using the Door Unlock button on the remote control or smart key. Press the button on the handle of the liftgate and open the liftgate.
- Press and hold the liftgate open button on the key fob or smart key.

Closing the Power Liftgate

Lower the liftgate and press it until it latches. Always check that it is secure by pulling the handle.

WARNING

Always keep the liftgate closed while the vehicle is moving. If it remains open or partially open, poisonous exhaust gases containing carbon monoxide (CO) may enter the vehicle and may result in serious injury or death.

Information

The liftgate latch and the liftgate may not operate if they are frozen due to moisture and freezing conditions.

WARNING

Always close the liftgate before driving. Do not grab or hold onto the liftgate support struts, as they may be damaged. Deformation of the liftgate support struts may cause damage to the vehicle and personal injury.

WARNING

Never allow anyone to ride in the cargo area of the vehicle at any time. If the liftgate is partially or fully latched and a person cannot get out, serious injury or death may occur due to lack of ventilation, exhaust gases, rapid heat buildup, or exposure to cold weather. The cargo area is also a very dangerous place in a collision because it is part of the vehicle's crush zone.
