Without Smart Key System
This indicator illuminates when the immobilizer key is inserted and turned to the ON position to start the engine.
At this time, the engine can be started. The indicator turns off after the engine starts running.
If this indicator flashes when the ignition key is in the ON position before starting the engine, have the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
With Smart Key System
If one of the following occurs in a vehicle equipped with a smart key, the immobilizer indicator will illuminate, flash, or turn off.
- When the smart key is inside the vehicle and the Engine Start/Stop button is in the ACC or ON position, the indicator will illuminate for approximately 30 seconds to indicate that the engine can be started. However, when the smart key is not inside the vehicle and the Engine Start/Stop button is pressed, the indicator will flash for several seconds, indicating that the engine cannot be started.
- If the indicator illuminates for only 2 seconds and then turns off when the Engine Start/Stop button is set to the ON position with the smart key inside the vehicle, have the system inspected by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
- If the battery is discharged and the Engine Start/Stop button is pressed, the indicator will flash and the engine cannot be started. However, you can start the engine by placing the smart key in the smart key holder. Also, if there is a problem with the smart key system components, the indicator will flash.
