SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE

Adding Coolant

~2min read

Your vehicle was built with an enhanced engine coolant (OAT coolant conforming to MS.90032) that allows extended service intervals. This engine coolant (antifreeze) can last up to 10 years or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) before replacement. To prevent reduction of this extended service life, it is important that you use the same engine coolant (OAT coolant conforming to MS.90032) throughout the life of your vehicle.

Please observe these guidelines when using Organic Additive Technology (OAT) engine coolant conforming to Manufacturer Material Standard MS.90032. When adding engine coolant (antifreeze):

  • We recommend using Mopar® Antifreeze/Coolant 10 Year/150,000 Mile (240,000 km) OAT (Organic Additive Technology) formula conforming to Manufacturer Material Standard MS.90032.
  • Mix a minimum 50% solution of OAT engine coolant conforming to Manufacturer Material Standard MS.90032 with distilled water. Use higher concentrations (no more than 70%) if temperatures are expected to be below -34°F (-37°C). Contact an authorized dealer for assistance.
  • Use only high-purity water, such as distilled or deionized water, when mixing the water/engine coolant solution. Using lower quality water will reduce the corrosion protection in the engine cooling system.

NOTE:

  • The owner is responsible for maintaining the proper level of freeze protection based on the temperatures occurring in the area where the vehicle is operated.
  • Some vehicles require special tools to properly add coolant. Failure to properly fill these systems may result in serious internal engine damage. If coolant must be added to the system, see an authorized dealer.
  • Do not mix different types of engine coolant. Mixing can damage the cooling system. If HOAT and OAT coolant are mixed in an emergency, have an authorized dealer drain, flush, and refill the system with OAT coolant (in accordance with MS.90032) as soon as possible.
