  • When replacing a blown fuse, always use a replacement fuse with the same amperage rating as the original fuse. Never replace a fuse with a fuse of a higher amperage rating. Never replace a blown fuse with metal wire or any other material. Failure to use the proper fuses may result in serious personal injury, fire, and/or property damage.
  • Before replacing a fuse, make sure the ignition is off and all other systems are off and/or disconnected.
  • If the replacement fuse blows again, see an authorized dealer.
  • If the fuse protects a main safety system (airbag system, brake system), powertrain system (engine system, transmission system), or steering, see an authorized dealer.

Fuses protect electrical systems from excess current.

When the device does not operate, check the fuse element inside the blade fuse for a break or melt.

Also keep in mind that using the power outlet for an extended period with the engine off may drain the vehicle's battery.
