- When taillamps of a preceding vehicle are detected.
- When headlamps or taillamps of a bicycle or motorcycle are detected.
- When the surroundings are bright enough that high beams are not needed.
- When street lamps or other lights are detected.
- When the light switch is not in the AUTO position.
- When the High Beam Assist system is turned off.
- When the vehicle speed is below 24 km/h.
The driver should be aware that in the following situations the system may not operate properly when the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is poor or limited:
► When the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is poor
- When the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is not detected due to a damaged lamp, being hidden from view, etc.
- When the lamp of an oncoming or preceding vehicle is covered with dust, snow, or water.
- When the headlamps of the preceding vehicle are off but the fog lamps are on, etc.
► When external conditions interfere
- When there is a vehicle ahead with similar lamp shape.
- When the headlamps are not repaired or replaced at an authorized dealer.
- When the headlamp aim is not properly adjusted.
- When driving on a narrow curved road, uneven road, downhill or uphill.
- When only part of the vehicle ahead is visible at an intersection or on a curved road.
- When there are traffic lights, reflective signs, flashing signs or mirrors ahead.
- When there are temporary reflectors or flashing lights ahead (construction area).
- When road conditions are poor, for example wet, icy or covered with snow.
- When a vehicle suddenly appears from around a curve.
- When the vehicle is tilted due to a flat tire or is being towed.
- When the Lane Keeping Assist System warning indicator (yellow) is illuminated (if equipped), etc.
► When forward visibility is poor
- When the oncoming vehicle's lamps or the front of the vehicle are covered with dust, snow or water.
- When the light from an oncoming or preceding vehicle is not detected due to exhaust gas, smoke, fog, snow, etc.
- When the windshield is obstructed by foreign matter.
- When visibility is poor due to fog, heavy rain or snow, etc.
- The system may not operate for 15 seconds after starting the vehicle or after initialization or reset of the front camera.
- Do not disassemble the front view camera for window tinting or attaching any type of coating or accessories. If you disassemble the camera and reassemble it, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system checked for calibration.
- When replacing or reinstalling the windshield or front view camera, take your vehicle to an authorized Kia dealer and have the system inspected.
- Be careful that water does not get into the High Beam Assist control unit, and do not remove or damage related High Beam Assist parts.
- Do not place items on the dashboard that reflect light, such as mirrors, white paper, etc. The system may malfunction if sunlight is reflected.
- The High Beam Assist system may not always operate properly. The system is only for your convenience. It is the driver's responsibility to observe driving laws and always check road conditions for your safety.
- When the system does not operate normally, switch the headlamp manually between high and low beam.
