Keep Hands on Steering Wheel
If the driver removes their hands from the steering wheel for several seconds while LFA is activated, the system will warn the driver.
✽ NOTICE
- Hands-off warnings may be delayed depending on road conditions. Always keep your hands on the steering wheel while driving.
- Hold the steering wheel firmly. Otherwise, LFA may incorrectly determine that the driver is not holding the wheel, and a manual release warning may appear.
WARNING
The warning message may be delayed depending on road conditions. Therefore, always keep hands on the steering wheel while driving.
Driver Convenience Systems Canceled
If the driver still does not have their hands on the steering wheel after the "Keep Hands on Steering Wheel" message, the system will not control the steering wheel and will only warn the driver when the driver crosses the lane markings.
However, if the driver's hands are back on the steering wheel, the system will start controlling steering again.
WARNING
- LFA is an auxiliary system only. It is the driver's responsibility to drive the vehicle safely and keep it in the lane.
- Turn off LFA and drive without using the system in the following situations:
- In bad weather
- In poor road conditions
- When the steering wheel must be frequently controlled by the driver
- When towing a vehicle or trailer
✽ NOTICE
- Even though steering is assisted by the system, the driver can still control the steering wheel.
- The steering wheel may feel heavier when steering is assisted by the system than when it is not.
Check Lane Follow Assist
If there is a problem with the system, a message will appear for several seconds. In this case, have the system checked by an authorized Kia dealer.
LFA will not be in the ENABLED state and/or the steering wheel will not receive assistance when:
- If the driver turns on the turn signal or hazard warning lights to change lanes,
- To change lanes, operate the turn signal lever and change lanes.
- If you change lanes without operating the turn signal lever, a repulsive force may occur on the steering wheel.
- After operating or changing lanes, you must return to the center of the lane for the system to switch back to LFA. If you continue to drive close to the lane marking instead of the center of the lane, steering assistance will not work. - ESC (Electronic Stability Control) or VSM (Vehicle Stability Management) is activated.
- The vehicle is driving through a sharp curve.
- Vehicle speed exceeds 95 mph (153 km/h).
- The vehicle makes a sudden lane change.
- The vehicle brakes suddenly.
- Only one lane marking is detected.
- The lane is very wide or narrow.
- The radius of the curve is too small.
- The vehicle is driving on a steep incline.
- The steering wheel is turned sharply.
- The system may not operate for 15 seconds after the engine is started, or while the front view camera is initializing.
